Worked on the woodstove heat shield to protect the vinyl window, after a wood fire breakfast of bacon and eggs.
Then did some much needed cleanup on the property.
The day started off beautiful. Cooked bacon and eggs over the wood fire, then started getting more work done on the wood stove.
After installing the wood stove, it was pointed out to me, that it was very close to that vinyl window, which made me concerned. I’d hate to melt the window. So, what to do.
My bride suggested making an insert for the window to help protect it. We put it in during the winter months when we’re burning the stove, and take it out when we’re not.
With a basic idea in mind, it was up to me to figure out how to implement it.
We had some leftover concrete board from the stove surround, some 2×4’s and still had some rusted corrugated metal roofing, so an idea was born. While I knew it wouldn’t be bad, it turned out much better than I expected. I love how it looks.
Once that was done, I finally got the old John Deere lawn tractor moved out of the middle of the area (still need to do something with that one day). And then we started some cleanup of the property.
I moved some bucked wood out of the weather. Splitting some and staking it all.
My bride used the chipper to clean up piles of downed branches.
It was a long day, but productive.
