Solar panel and battery upgrade for the shower shack

Solar panel and battery upgrade for the shower shack is what’s on tap for today.

We initially installed 4, 25 watt solar panels for the shower shack, and had it hooked to an old lead acid battery.
I decided we could go ahead and upgrade from 100 watts to 200 watts giving us twice as much charging capacity as we had (plus a better panel).
I also decided to upgrade from the old lead acid battery to an AGM battery.

The AGM batter allows us to be able to pull up to 80% of the battery capacity if necessary (as opposed to only 50% of the lead acid). This shouldn’t really be necessary, but it was a bonus.
The main reason for the upgrade is the lower temperature usage. From what I had read, AGM does a better job in the lower side of the temperature range than lead acid. It did better than Lithium Ion as well. So, I decided to give it a shot.

It’s nice having that done. We’ll probably use those 4, 25 watt panels to charge the battery we use for the Nature’s Head composting toilet.
