Chicken processing – skinning

This isn’t my favorite thing in the world to do, but I love the outcome!

It’s time to process the 3 roosters from the last batch of chicks we had.
We had 7 chicks, 4 female, 3 male.
We kept the girls, but it’s time to process the boys.

I got a chance to teach the neighbor and 2 of his kids how to process chickens, and that was nice.

I have plucked, and I have skinned, and I’ve started mainly just skinning them.
For me, it’s a bit faster, but it may be just because I don’t do it often.

The chickens were all hatched the same day, and it was interesting to see the differences in their sizes.
They were:

  • 2.5 pounds
  • 3.3 pounds
  • 2.9 pounds

Also had 3 ounces of chicken livers I plan to use for catfish bait.
